Pleasant Hills Roller Hockey (PHRHL) was established in 1993 by local community members who had a specific vision. First, to rebuild the Route 51 park that, at that time, was run-down with rusted playground equipment, cracked asphalt, and broken fencing. Second, they wanted to create a roller hockey league where kids in the community could play for fun and at an affordable price. And third, to bring communities together for the betterment of the kids. When PHRHL first began in 1993, the league had about 50 players register. Word spread fast about this fun league in the community, and it went on to double in size the following year. By 2001, PHRHL was seeing 350-400 players registered consistently. Unfortunately, in 2020 when the global pandemic hit, PHRHL had to pause the league.
In 2023, PHRHL ran its first summer league back after COVID. The goal for that year was reintroduce PHRHL back to the community, bring back the joy that PHRHL was known for, and to re-establish a safe and fun place for kids to play roller hockey. Throughout the 3 years PHRHL was closed, PHRHL continued to pay for things to maintain the league and did some things to revive the Route 51 park. The trees were cut back off the court, the building on site was cleaned, minor repairs were made to the building, the court itself underwent several repairs, hockey nets were replaced, and some equipment was updated. PHRHL is so grateful for the 2023 sponsors who helped make these things possible!
During the 2024 summer season, thanks to generous donors, PHRHL was able to purchase some new goalie equipment and new game balls, as well as a freezer for the PHRHL snack bar.
For the upcoming 2025 summer season we are in need of community members and business owners who would like to support PHRHL. This year, we would like to replace goalie blockers and a few new goalie sticks and purchase new game balls for both hot and cold weather. We would be honored to advertise these businesses at the court during games and share their sponsorship on our social media outlets. Our top 5 sponsors will also have the opportunity to be advertised on our PHRHL website.
PHRHL has always been a beacon of light in the community, and we look forward to bringing it back again for the summer of 2025. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to any of the board members. Thank you for your consideration!
