*Please note, the following answers are based on what the league has done in the past.  There may be times when changes may be necessary.  (excessive number of rainouts, larger than expected number of teams in a division)

When does the season start/How long does it run?

Learn-to-Play: Classes begin when the games begin, around the end of May and run through the first week of August.

Squirt/PeeWee/Bantams: Practices begin after the draft in late May. Teams will get one practice before games begin. Games begin around the first week of June and continue through the first week of August.

What exactly is Learn to Play?

LTP is a weekly class the league organizes for kids not quite ready for league play.  It generally serves kids younger than 8 (we've had as young as 3) who have at least been on skates and want to learn the basics. Typical schedule and cost is below. Still have questions? Shoot us an email!

What is a typical schedule?

Learn-to-Play classes are 1 hour, once a week.

Squirt/PeeWee/Bantams play Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday each week. Depending on the number of teams, Bantams may play an occassional Sunday game. There is usually one game per week but there will be weeks when there are two games. Games usually start at 6pm/7pm/8pm/9pm.

How many games are in a season?

Learn-to-Play will have at least 10 classes.

Squirt/PeeWee/Bantams play 12 games.

Where are the games played?

All games and practices take place at the Pleasant Hills Boulevard Park, on Pleasant Hills Boulevard across Route 51 from the Pleasant Hills Fire Dept, south of the cloverleaf.

What kind of equipment do I need and where can I get it?

Required equipment is a helmet with cage or shield, mouth guard, elbow pads, hockey gloves, shin guards that cover the knee, inline skates, athletic supporter, and stick with taped or butt end. Most sporting goods stores carry hockey equipment(Dick's, Dunham's, etc.).  There are also several hockey stores in the area such as Ko Sports is on Route 19 near Southpointe, Pure Hockey in Great Southern Shopping Center in Bridgeville and on Neville Island near the RMU Sports Complex.  Hockey equipment can also be found at online sites and ebay.

What is the cost?

2018's league fee will remain at $90.  Discounts are given at checkout for siblings.

Learn to play fee is $70.

I want to play goalie.  Do I need my own equipment?

No.  The league provides equipment for goalies or they may use their own.

Can I play up/down a division?

The league does not allow players to play up a division or down.  There are NO EXCEPTIONS to this rule.

How are the teams formed?

Teams are formed by a blind draft system.  Players names are not visible.  Coaches will notify their players of their practice date and time after the draft.  Rosters will be posted on the website.

What is the Playoff Picnic?

The season ends with a playoff picnic, which takes place on a Saturday (usually the first Saturday in August)  All players are asked to bring a covered dish to enjoy during their games.  The league provides the hot dogs.  All teams play at least one game on Saturday. Learn-to-Play participates in the playoffs with a scrimmage.
